Trayicon menu

When Lock My PC is running you can see its icon in the system tray bar (which usually located in the right-bottom corner of screen, near the system clock). Trayicon menu is available by right mouse button click on Lock My PC icon in the system tray.

Trayicon menu contains the items:


Settings Dialog

Settings dialog window allows you to change Lock My PC settings.
This dialog window can be opened by selecting Settings in Lock My PC trayicon menu.

General

Show unsuccessful attempts allows you to enable logging of unsuccessful attempts to enter the unlock password .

Do not show tray icon at startup. Check this option to hide Lock My PC tray icon from the tray. To display tray icon, you can press a corresponding hotkey.

Hide Lock My PC from Task Manager. Check this option to hide Lock My PC on the process tab of Task Manager and some other process viewers. This option hides Lock My PC only from 32-bit process viewers, and will not hide process from Windows Task Manager on Windows XP x64 edition.

Ask password on quit. If checked, Lock My PC will display password prompt if you try to quit Lock My PC.

Lock all CD-ROM drives while computer is locked. If checked, Lock My PC will try to lock all CD ROM doors when the computer is locked.

Blind password (no password prompt appears). If checked, Lock My PC will not display password prompt box when you try to unlock your computer. To unlock the computer you should simply type the password "blindly" and press Enter. If you believe that you mistype the password, press ESC key and type the password again. If you wish to display password prompt box, simply press Shift+Space.
When you type the password you shouldn't allow 5 seconds interval between keystrokes. In other case, the typed password will be canceled.

Lock computer after XX minute(s) of inactivity. If the computer is idle during the specified period of time, Lock My PC locks it automatically.

Switch off after XX minute(s) of being locked. If the computer is locked for the specified amount of time, Lock My PC will log off user or turn off the computer.

Switch off method defines what Lock My PC will do after XX minutes of being locked (Log off, Shutdown, Hibernate, Stand By, Restart).

Lock Screen

Show image when Lock Computer enables lock screen with an image, otherwise Lock My PC shows black screen.

Image file name edit line allows you to specify file name of the image to show on lock screen. Use Browse button to choose the file.
Instead of image file name, you may specify image sequence file. In this case Lock My PC will rotate lock screen images in accordance with the image sequence file.

User defined lock picture can be in Windows BMP, JPEG or GIF (including animated GIF)format. You can find additional lock screens in "LockScreens" subfolder of Lock My PC program folder.

By default Lock My PC uses lockscreen1.jpg screen image.

Lock screen image visual effect - defines how the lock image will appear on the screen.

  None The image will be displayed in the center of the primary monitor as is.
  Stretch The image will be stretched to fit the entire screen.
  Fly The image will "fly" on the screen - this can prevent screen burn.
  Jump The image will "jump" from one place on the screen to another - this can prevent screen burn as well.

Transparent lock screen makes the lock screen transparent. Use a track bar to set the transparency level. You may vary the transparency level from fully opaque to fully transparent. The latter allows you to lock keyboard and mouse only and may be helpful when you are watching films or running presentations on your PC.

Hotkeys

Lock Computer - key combination that implements "Lock Computer" action.

Show/Hide tray icon - this key combination displays or hides Lock My PC tray icon.

Display password prompt from "Blind" mode - you can press this key combination when your computer is locked and Blind password option is enabled. Pressing this key combination displays password prompt box. Please note that this key combination is hardcoded as Shift+Space and cannot be changed.

Advanced

If Lock My PC is installed in multi user mode, this group of options will be available for Lock My PC administrator only.

Always lock computer at computer startup - This option allows you to lock computer automatically at startup. The computer will be locked before Windows displays logon screen and even in Windows Safe Mode. If Lock My PC is installed in multi user mode, only administrator password can unlock the computer at startup. Please save the password in a safe place. If you lost the password, you will not be able to unlock your computer!

User password expires in XX days - Lock My PC will ask users to change their personal passwords when XX days elapsed since the last password changing date. This option is available in multi user mode only.

Remind users to change password XX days before - Lock My PC will be asking users to change their personal passwords XX days before the password expiration date (see the previous option). This option is available in multi user mode only.

Users cannot change their settings (use this user settings for all users) - if checked, users except Lock My PC administrator will not be able to change own Lock My PC settings. Lock My PC administrator's settings will be used for all users. This option is available in multi user mode only.

Clear user password. Press this button to reset the password of any Lock My PC user. This option is available in multi user mode only. If your user forget his/her password, run Lock My PC from Lock My PC administrator account, and press this button to reset user's password.


Updates

If Lock My PC is installed in multi user mode, this group of options will be available for Lock My PC administrator only.

Automatically poll for updates - enable this option to be up to date all the time.

Polling interval specifies how often to get information about news and updates.

Last poll - indicates the date of the last poll.

Do not display warning message before connecting the Internet - enable it to bypass warning message before connecting the Internet.


Change Password Dialog

Change Password dialog window allows you to change Lock My PC password.

To change the password you must enter the current password, so the password can be changed by authorized person only.
