Integration settings

Integrate into Windows Explorer context menu -  adds Hide/Lock/Read Only/No Execute with Hide Folders commands to the File Explorer context menu. This lets you set protection for file system objects directly from the shell.
Drag and drop defines the default protection method when you drag a file or a folder from File Explorer and drop it into the Hide Folders window.

Wipe tracks

These settings help remove traces of Hide Folders activity from your computer.
Wipe tracks every time you enable protection - performs the actions specified in the Wipe tracks options whenever you enable protection.

Clear "Recent" folder, jump lists - select this option to remove shortcuts from the Recent Documents folder and Jump Lists.

Clear all links - if selected, Hide Folders clears the Recent Documents folder entirely. This also clears all Recent Jump Lists.

Clear links to protected files only - if selected, Hide Folders scans the Recent Documents folder and Jump Lists. If an entry links to a file located in a hidden folder, the entry is deleted.
Clear Recycle Bin items originally protected - if selected, Hide Folders scans the Recycle Bin and removes files and folders that were located in protected folders before they were deleted.
Warning: Once Hide Folders removes items from the Recycle Bin, they cannot be restored.
Remove protected items from Explorer address bar history - File Explorer keeps a history of paths entered manually in the address bar. If you entered the path of a protected object and want to remove it from the history, enable this option.

Hot keys

The Hot keys page allows you to assign hot keys to basic Hide Folders actions.
To assign a hot key, press the desired key or key combination in the corresponding field. Hot keys automatically include the Ctrl+Alt modifier.
To clear the current hot key, press the Space bar.
Hotkey sound - plays sound files when you enable or disable protection using hot keys. Consider enabling this option if you use the Toggle protection hot key. To use your own sound file, copy it to the Sounds folder in the Hide Folders application folder. The file must be in WAV format.

Remote control settings

Remote control allows you to enable or disable Hide Folders protection from a remote computer using any web browser. When you enable this option, Hide Folders starts its own web server, which you can access using the computer's IP address. If your computer is behind NAT, configure port forwarding on your router or consider using a Dynamic DNS service.
Enabling Remote Control starts the internal web server and allows remote connections to it.
Port number - specifies the TCP port on which the web server listens. The port must not already be in use by another application. If you specify a port that is already in use, Hide Folders displays a warning and you must choose another port.
Include this port number in the URL when connecting to the remote server, as follows:
http://ADDRESS:PORT
If you set the port number to 80, you can use http://ADDRESS without specifying the port.
Enter remote control password/Confirm remote control password - specify the password for remote access. This password is separate from the main Hide Folders password.
URL - displays the address you can use to access the Hide Folders web server. The URL is read-only and is provided for reference.
Set and test - click this button to save the Remote Control configuration and test the URL.

Example:
If the IP address of your PC is 192.168.1.12 and the port number is 4048, the URL is http://192.168.1.12:4048. Use this address to connect from a web browser.

Updates

Automatically poll for updates - Hide Folders automatically checks for updates at the interval specified by Polling interval.
Last poll - displays the date of the last check for updates.

You may want to allow your antivirus and backup programs to access protected data.
Add - Adds a process to the list of trusted processes. You can add a process by specifying its executable file name or by selecting it from the list of running processes.
Remove - Removes a process from the list of trusted processes.
Clear - Removes all processes from the list of trusted processes.
